Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger is set to portray a lighthouse keeper in the upcoming film by Alice Rohrwacher, the acclaimed director of Happy as Lazzaro. The movie, currently shooting on the Italian island of Stromboli, marks Rohrwacher's English-language debut.
Film Details and Cast
According to Italian media reports, Jagger was photographed arriving on Stromboli via helicopter to join the cast of Three Incestuous Sisters. This adaptation is based on Audrey Niffenegger's 2005 visual novel, a fairy tale about three sisters who fall in love with the son of a lighthouse keeper. The previously announced cast includes Dakota Johnson, Jessie Buckley, Saoirse Ronan, and Josh O'Connor, who will play Jagger's character's son.
Jagger's Acting Career
While primarily known as a musician, Jagger has taken on sporadic film roles over the decades. His notable performances include leading roles in Performance and Ned Kelly (both 1970), as well as supporting parts in Freejack (1992), Bent (1997), and The Man from Elysian Fields (2001). He has also produced films such as Enigma, The Women, and Get on Up.
Rohrwacher gained widespread acclaim for Happy as Lazzaro, which won Best Screenplay at Cannes in 2018, and her 2023 film La Chimera, starring O'Connor. Three Incestuous Sisters is highly anticipated as her first English-language project.
