Meghan Markle's hopes of reviving her lifestyle series With Love, Meghan in Britain have been dismissed as likely to end in "car-crash television" by celebrity chef Jameson Stocks. Speaking exclusively to the Daily Express, Stocks said he was not surprised by reports that Prince Harry and Meghan plan to return to Britain with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Sussexes accused of 'running back'
Stocks said he "wasn't surprised in the slightest" by the reports, pointing to the couple's recent setbacks. "In my opinion, it feels like a clear case of running back with their tail between their legs," he claimed.
The chef suggested the homecoming represented yet another reinvention after the couple's departure from royal life and their attempts to establish themselves in California. "Let's not forget that they left Britain for a reason, yet almost everything she became involved in appeared to fail," he declared.
British lifestyle reboot criticised
Stocks was particularly critical of the possibility that Meghan, 45, might attempt to breathe new life into With Love, Meghan from Britain. While quintessentially British interiors, country living, gardens and traditional entertaining enjoy enormous popularity online, he remained unconvinced.
"If she were given the same kind of platform she had in America, it would likely end in the same way: as car-crash television," he claimed. "Given who she is, there's no doubt she would receive some form of platform and offers here - but they'd be disgraceful if given yet another chance."
Media ventures scrutinised
Stocks also took aim at the opportunities Harry and Meghan received after moving to America, particularly their lucrative media ventures. "They wanted to go to America, the American dream. She was handed opportunity after opportunity," he said, before using an expletive to claim those opportunities had been squandered.
He added that he found it "embarrassing that they got paid so much money" for content he regarded as poor. Whether British audiences would embrace a Meghan lifestyle reboot, Stocks conceded, ultimately remains for viewers to decide. "It's not for me to say if they'll get behind her or not," he said. "I just judge it on her cookery shows and what she demonstrates to the audience."
