Maya Jama 'doomed' after Acaster's Traitors confession

Celebrity Traitors viewers are convinced Maya Jama's fate in the game has been sealed following a bombshell confession in the semi-final. James Acaster dramatically revealed his identity as a Traitor during the roundtable vote, a moment that fans claim has "ruined the whole game".

Acaster's confession confirms Michael is a Faithful

James had been cornered by actor Michael Sheen, who accurately suspected that the Traitors were amongst those present in the library when Ross Kemp was killed in full view. He eventually narrowed his suspicion down to Traitors Maya Jama and James.

But James couldn't bear deceiving his fellow contestants any longer and chose to admit that he was recruited by the antagonists, soon after beginning the competition as a Faithful. He said: "I just want to explain my situation. I was made a Traitor without wanting to be. I've had a unique experience on this that no one has had before."

James told the Faithfuls: "I am so proud of you guys for catching me the way that you did, and I wanted it to be that I was found logically and in a way [where] you followed clues and got me." BBC watchers reckon this remark confirmed to the remaining contestants that Michael is definitely a Faithful and guaranteed Maya's downfall.

Fans predict Maya's downfall

Just moments before James' confession, Maya had been attempting to dispel the theory that Traitors were definitely present in the library on the night Ross was murdered. She was trying to deflect suspicion regarding her part in Ross's elimination, but supporters believe her argument at the roundtable will only raise red flags amongst the remaining players.

Taking to social media, one fan said: "maya is doomed." A second added: "maya definitely can't win now. michael was onto her at the round table (and i suspect if james A hadn't confessed, michael could have gotten everyone to vote for her). if she kills michael, it comes back to her. if she kills someone else, everyone is going to banish her."

Another person noted: "If they get rid of Michael it's obvious it's Maya and if they keep him Maya's gone regardless." While others suggested the only route to victory for the Traitors is through an act of betrayal. "I still think Kenny could win, but he'll have to throw Maya under the bus," said one person.

Some defend James' strategy

Yet some viewers have leapt to defend James' strategy, arguing that his actions actually bought Maya additional time in the competition. Someone posted: "I don't think James Acaster ruined Maya's game tbh. If James hadn't confessed, the faithfuls were going to banished either him or Maya anyway. #CelebrityTraitors."

The Celebrity Traitors season two finale airs tonight at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
