Love Island host Maya Jama is compelled to check on a furious Islander in forthcoming scenes from the Casa Amor recoupling, following Simba's decision to abandon his original partner Angelista for newcomer Mara.
Recoupling Fallout
ITV audiences have already witnessed the original boys making their return to the main villa last night (July 1), but they haven't seen the aftermath of Simba's comeback. The 24-year-old had been partnered with nurse Angelista prior to the entrance of 12 fresh bombshells. After only a few days in Casa Amor, he chose to couple up with Mara, leaving Angelista without a partner.
This evening's (July 2) episode will resume immediately after the new couples enter the villa holding hands. Maya subsequently intervenes to question Simba about his feelings upon seeing his previous partner Angelista left standing alone.
Simba's Justification
When asked about seeing Angelista upset, Simba responds: "Obviously it's not nice to see," before adding: "I would be doing myself a disservice if I wasn't true to myself and open myself up to potential connections," reports OK!.
As pressure mounts, Simba clarifies to his fellow contestants that he remains eager to pursue a relationship with Angelista. "Me and Angie aren't done by any means and I want her to know that," he reveals.
Angelista's Reaction
When Maya enquires how Angelista is feeling, she responds: "I'm speechless to be honest... I'm livid, I'm trying to hold it together." The entire situation leaves Angelista clearly distressed, prompting Maya to intervene and whisper: "Are you okay?"
Mara then offers her own assessment of the circumstances, stating: "He [Simba] didn't want to hurt anyone... I'm going to give him grace and understanding."
Further Tensions
In subsequent scenes, Simba will attempt to justify his Casa Amor behaviour by claiming he approached it like a "lads' holiday" while still wanting to pursue a genuine relationship with Angelista. He states: "This is not an exchange... I want to become the best version of Simba for you."
However, Angelista will find it difficult to agree with her villa ex, responding: "That doesn't make any sense... Do you actually hear yourself?"
Viewers will need to tune in to discover whether Simba and Angelista make it through the recoupling, though the pair are certainly on rocky ground. Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
