Maya Jama admits sneaky rule break on Traitors

Maya Jama has revealed that she and Joanne McNally broke one of the off-screen rules during their time on Celebrity Traitors, admitting they hid in toilets and drank other contestants' nightly drinks.

The Love Island host shared a montage of emotional clips of the pair on Instagram, writing: 'I love you my ball of fun. Most of our time together wasn't included because we spoke about everything other than the game and hid in the toilets telling secrets.'

'Fun fact about halfway through everyone stopped having their one drink a night so they could focus, so we sneakily drank theirs. Cling cling,' she added, tagging McNally's social media account.

Chaperoned toilet trips

It is understood that the stars are not permitted to go to the toilet together, and fellow 2026 contestant Joe Lycett has referenced being chaperoned on trips to the loo.

The comedian was on BBC Radio 1 when he produced a diary he kept during his Scottish stint and read out an excerpt in which he joked he 'can't p***' because of the presence of said chaperones.

'There were people in the toilet all the time in case you went in the loo and then shouted something out of the door to somebody and they couldn't use it in the show,' he said. 'I don't know about you, but if I've had a [curry] I do not want a TV producer stood outside that loo!'

Banished at the final roundtable

Jama's furtive trips to the toilet didn't help her go all the way, as the Traitor was banished at the final roundtable when her fellow turret-dweller King Kenny voted for her banishment, rather than to tie the poll with Romesh Ranganathan, who ultimately went on to win the game alongside Sebastian Croft.

Speaking about the demise of the turret, Jama said: 'I don't know how it crashed down so quickly. I feel like the game of James [Acaster] not wanting to lie, me just trying to keep the vibes happy and Kenny playing as a Faithful couldn't have lasted till the final. It was impossible. I think maybe if I was a bit more savage, things could have gone a different way.'
