Matt Tebbutt, best known as the host of BBC One's Saturday Kitchen, has been confirmed as a judge for the upcoming 18th series of MasterChef: The Professionals. He will join returning judges Marcus Wareing and Monica Galetti on the programme, which airs on BBC One and iPlayer.
Tebbutt brings extensive experience from the restaurant industry, television, and cookbook authorship. The series will also feature guest judges during the initial Skills Tests, adding further expertise to the competition.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Tebbutt said: “It’s an absolute honour to be working alongside these two titans of the food world. Their knowledge and uncompromising attitude is now the stuff of legend.” Wareing and Galetti welcomed him, with Wareing noting that Tebbutt's “experience, both on screen and in the industry, speaks for itself.”
David Ambler, MasterChef Executive Editor, commented: “It’s a great pleasure to welcome Matt on board… His career as a chef, restaurateur and food broadcaster makes him an ideal choice.” Kalpna Patel-Knight, BBC Head of Entertainment, added that Tebbutt's “natural warmth” and “sharp eye for talent” will be a fantastic addition.
MasterChef: The Professionals is a Shine TV production for BBC One and iPlayer, commissioned by Patel-Knight. The series will consist of 21 one-hour episodes.
