Matt Baker has paid tribute to his beloved family dog Isla, who has died at the age of 13. The Countryfile presenter shared the news on his Farm On The Hill Instagram account, posting a series of photographs of the cairn terrier and expressing his devastation at the loss.
In his post, Baker wrote: 'So sad, we’ve said Goodbye 🌈 to Isla, our oldest & smallest cairn at 13yrs. She was sweet natured, kind, tough, fast as lightning, and a patient gentle Mum. She was the one with the voice to let us know when they all wanted to be in or be out.. We’ll miss her 🐾#cairnterrier #doglovers #friendforlife' On his personal account, he added: 'The reason we love dogs so much is the only time they break our hearts is when they leave us.'
Fans and fellow celebrities offered condolences, including Steps star Ian 'H' Watkins, who replied: 'Big hugs.' One fan commented: 'I’m so so sorry for your loss. I know what it’s like to lose a family member, she will never leave your side, or your heart.' Another wrote: 'So very sorry to hear that. I’m certain she couldn’t have had any better life than with you.'
The former Blue Peter star has frequently shared his animals with fans, both on social media and through his farming series. He launched 'Matt Baker: Our Farm in the Dales' two years ago, documenting his return to County Durham to help his parents run the family farm after his mother suffered a serious injury. He is now set to present 'Travels in The Country USA' on More4, exploring rural America.
