MasterChef UK Raw Chicken Scandal Horrifies Viewers

MasterChef returned to BBC One this evening, and one contestant's dish left judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace horrified after they discovered raw chicken. Marketing manager Ottilie served chicken thighs with sweet potato, white bean, and chorizo stew, accompanied by saffron rice.

When the judges began to taste the dish, Gregg noted the skin wasn't cooked properly. John cut into the chicken and recoiled, saying, 'Oh. Can't eat that.' The inside was clearly raw. Gregg told the contestant he liked the stew but couldn't eat the chicken because it was undercooked. John added, 'I think you've got to know when to stop. It's a bit all over the place.'

Viewers took to Twitter to express their shock. One wrote, 'Mmmm, Chicken a la Salmonella, who doesn't love that?' Another said, 'There's chicken that's a bit under, and then there's that almost raw chicken.' A third joked, 'I know, I'll just pop onto MasterChef and give everyone food poisoning!'

This incident follows confusion from the previous episode, where contestants used micro-herbs to decorate their plates. Some viewers questioned the choice, with one tweeting, 'What's with all these Micro foods & herbs, get some proper food #MasterChef.' Another asked, 'Micro basil? What was ever wrong with regular size basil?'
