Major Crimes Unit returns with new episodes perfect for 24 Hours in Police Custody fans
Major Crimes Unit returns with new episodes for police show fans

Channel 5's true crime documentary series Major Crimes Unit has returned with brand new episodes, offering viewers a gripping look into criminal investigations. The show, which first aired earlier this year with three episodes dropping weekly, had paused before returning on Monday, October 19 at 9pm.

New Episode Focuses on Birmingham Kidnapping

The latest instalment plunged viewers into a criminal investigation in Birmingham after a red Mercedes was boxed in by two cars. Six men, armed with machetes, swarmed the vehicle before two passengers escaped with serious injuries. The driver was dragged out, beaten and bundled into the boot of a black Volkswagen Passat.

With abandoned cars, a trail of blood and frightened witnesses, the major crime team reconstructed the attack from the evidence left behind. A synopsis teased: "The case darkens when footage shows the kidnappers forcing their bloodied captive into a nearby property while searching for something hidden there."

"They leave empty-handed, but the sequence provides clearer images and reveals a wider plot involving violence, burglary and demands for money."

More Episodes to Come

In further good news for fans, another new episode will air next Monday (October 26) at 9pm on Channel 5, taking viewers to Wolverhampton after a car mounted a pavement, smashing into a man before running him over again.

Major Crimes Unit offers unprecedented access into elite crime fighting units across the UK as detectives work around the clock to bring justice for victims and their families. Episodes can also be streamed on Channel 5 online.

Viewer Reactions

Previously, one viewer branded the new series as one of the "best" on Channel 5 as another said it was a "brilliant watch". After news of the new episode was shared, one person wrote on social media: "Watched it earlier fantastic police work well done." Another simply described it as a "sick series".

Over on TikTok, one true crime fan said it was a "must watch" for those who love true crime as another person admitted they were "looking for something to binge."

However, there was some confusion over whether it was a repeat episode, but for Channel 5, it was a new instalment in the Major Crime Unit series. Major Crimes Unit returns next Monday, October 26 on Channel 5 at 9pm, with episodes also available to stream on Channel 5 online.
