Former Married at First Sight UK star Nathan Campbell has spoken out about the infamous 'edit' that often sparks complaints from reality TV participants. The 25-year-old, who appeared on the 2024 series, believes the key to avoiding a distorted portrayal is to remain genuine throughout the process.
Nathan, who was paired with Lacey Martin, admitted that their on-screen romance didn't reflect reality. 'We looked like roses and sunshine, but it was a different story off camera,' he said. Despite the couple initially seeming well-suited, their relationship fizzled out after filming wrapped.
Addressing criticisms from other MAFS stars about the edit, Nathan commented: 'Producers can only work with what they get. So it's really important to just be your true self. Because if you're hiding behind a mask, it's only a matter of time before it slips.'
Nathan also shared his thoughts on the current 2025 series cast. He expressed sympathy for Steven Springett, who recently left the experiment with wife Neelima Patel after being accused of using a dating app. 'I actually feel a bit sorry for Steven. I think he's a nice guy,' Nathan said. However, he was less charitable about Julia-Ruth Smith, who had an explosive exit with Divarni Groce Balogun. 'I think Julia Ruth comes off as quite fake,' he remarked.
Despite his critiques of some cast members, Nathan had nothing but praise for the E4 experts, particularly Paul. 'Paul, in particular, is incredibly intelligent. Sometimes their reactions might seem a bit over the top, but that's just to add drama and keep the show engaging,' he explained.
