Ella, 29, the programme's first transgender contestant, is said to have kissed JJ, 30, while he was married to Bianca Petronzi, also 30. Following the incident, Ella's husband, Nathanial Valentino, 36, quit the experiment.
According to a source, Ella and Nathanial had tried to advance their relationship but agreed they were better as friends. Nathanial was reportedly disappointed by Ella's actions, stating that kissing someone else went against his values. The source added that Ella enjoyed the attention from JJ, which she felt was missing in her marriage to Nathanial.
After initially leaving the show when their marriages failed, Ella and JJ were given permission by the relationship experts to return as a new couple, causing tension among the cast who had taken the process seriously. JJ's marriage to Bianca had already ended after he showed little interest, admitting she was not his usual type.
Nathanial later claimed he felt forced into his partnership with Ella and described the experience as being 'strangled.' He told the Sunday Mirror that he quit to avoid causing damage and branded producers 'manipulative,' calling his time on the show a 'complete sham.' Channel 4 responded by stating that Nathanial entered the process voluntarily with full consent and that the show is unscripted.
