Channel 5 has released the first look at the upcoming fifth series of The Madame Blanc Mysteries, and fans are already sharing their excitement ahead of its return.
The crime-comedy-drama first aired in 2021 and was created by Sally Lindsay and Sue Vincent. After three series and a Christmas special, viewers are now set to receive another instalment of the show.
Sally Lindsay stars as Cheshire antiques dealer Jean White, the lead character who helps solve mysteries and deaths in the village of Sainte Victoire in the south of France.
Wedding Plans and Returning Cast
Series four arrived last year as Jean and her sidekick Dom, played by Steve Edge, were quietly navigating a blossoming but secret romance after her heartfelt confession at the end of series three.
With her growing reputation as a crime-solving expert and her deep knowledge of antiques, Jean teamed up with Police Chief Inspector André Caron to unravel a series of mysteries. As more cases emerged and an old friend reappeared, Jean and Dom tried their best to keep their relationship away from all the chaos.
Now, Channel 5 has offered fans a first look as the show returns for series five, and the synopsis teases that all treasured regulars are returning.
New Mysteries and Obstacles
The synopsis reads: "All treasured regulars are returning; Sally Lindsay stars as Jean White, Steve Edge as Dom Hayes, co-writer Sue Vincent stars as glorious Gloria Beaushaw, Robin Askwith and Sue Holderness return as the delectable Jeremy and Judith Lloyd James along with Alex Gaumond as Chief of Police André Caron. Also returning once again are Tony Robinson as Dom’s Uncle Patrick, Paul Chuckle (Elliott) as Gloria’s dad Trevor, and Stephen Bailey, back to cause trouble as gangster John Marsden."
"As Jean and Dom plan their wedding, nothing can prepare them for the unseen obstacles that crop up along the way. Over the course of the series, a dead body in one of the shows iconic locations, Uncle Patrick hosts the pub quiz of the century at La Couronne, Judith and Jeremy face a heart-wrenching dilemma, and the bodies continue to stack up when someone is found foaming at the mouth in St Victoire Theatre."
"We witness the full, fabulous wrath of John Marsden, and hold our breath to see whether Jean and Dom will finally make it down the aisle. With even more mind-boggling mysteries, murders and eye-popping antiquities than ever before, The Madame Blanc Mysteries Series 5 will have you on the edge of your sun-drenched seat."
