The festive special of The Madame Blanc Mysteries will air on Channel 5 on Tuesday, December 23 at 8pm, with Sally Lindsay reprising her role as Jean White. The feature-length episode presents Jean with her 'most perilous challenge yet' as she attends an exclusive event at the Musée de Ste Victoire, where she is tasked with authenticating a rare Ormolu box once owned by Marie Antoinette.
Things take a dramatic turn when she uncovers a bomb inside the box. With only 90 minutes until detonation, the museum locked down and a security guard found dead, Jean must decipher the code and defuse the bomb before it's too late. 'Murder, jealous lovers, precious antiques, twists and turns. This is Jean's toughest challenge yet - can she save the day?' teases a Channel 5 synopsis.
Sally has previously disclosed that the special, inspired by 'disaster' Christmas films, will be a 'separate story that does not progress the overall plot or any character arcs. It simply exists within the world of Madame Blanc'.
The festive special sees the return of fan-favourite characters alongside guest stars including John Thomson, Kacey Ainsworth, Manjinder Virk, and Raji James. Speaking about the guest stars, Sally shared: 'John Thomson plays George. He is an old friend of mine and my husband’s and I have wanted to work with him for years... Kacey Ainsworth plays his wife and they are a perfect match.'
The Madame Blanc Mysteries Christmas Special airs at 8pm on Tuesday, December 23 on Channel 5, followed by Sally Lindsay's Christmas Quiz at 10pm. Viewers can also stream on 5.
