Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon has sent a sweet message to her co-star Tina O'Brien after the pair attended the Pride of Britain Awards together on Monday evening (October 19). The message comes as fans continue to react to their current on-screen storyline in the long-running ITV soap, which is filmed in Salford.
Fallon and O'Brien are known for playing mother-and-daughter duo Sarah and Bethany Platt. O'Brien took on the role of Gail Platt's daughter back in 1999, while Fallon made her debut in 2015. In recent scenes, viewers have watched as Sarah faced trial for the murder of Theo Silverton, while Bethany slept with her mum's ex, DC Kit Green, with the one-night stand resulting in Bethany falling pregnant with her first child.
Pride of Britain Awards appearance
Away from the drama unfolding in Weatherfield, Fallon and O'Brien were seen having an emotional night of a different kind as they attended the inspirational Pride of Britain Awards on Monday evening. Held every year since 1999, the awards, organised in partnership with the Daily Mirror and P&O Cruises, honour the nation's everyday heroes.
Every iteration of the event has been presented by Carol Vorderman, 65, best known for her work on Countdown from 1982 until 2008. After making his debut as a co-presenter in 2024, Diversity's Ashley Banjo joined Vorderman again for the 2026 event. This year's winners were chosen by the Pride of Britain judging panel from a shortlist drawn up after tens of thousands of public nominations were received.
Fallon's Instagram tribute
Having attended the star-studded event together, it was on Tuesday (October 20) that Fallon took to Instagram and shared a sweet post about her friend and co-star. She shared a picture of the pair, looking sensational in their gowns, and wrote on her Instagram Story: "One of my bestest friends in the world [heart emoji] @tinob83," before adding the Beyonce track, XO.
It was during Monday's (October 19) visit to Weatherfield that Corrie fans heard that Sarah had been found not guilty of killing the builder, having previously admitted to his murder in self-defence. It came after she was revealed to be the dastardly builder's killer, after he had been abusing her best friend, Todd Grimshaw, in flashback scenes aired in June, weeks after his death was confirmed when his lifeless body was found by Betsy Swain on the night of her mum Lisa Swain's wedding to Carla Connor.
Fans react to Bethany's baby secret
While Bethany was relieved not to have to see her mum put behind bars for Theo's death, as Sarah returned home, Bethany was looking sheepish as she hid her baby secret, which she has since revealed to her mum in Tuesday's (October 19) edition of Corrie.
As Sarah appears pleased with her daughter's news, fans of the programme have been quick to make the same comment. @cedecupcake said: "Sarah finding out bethany's pregnant and immediately calling it the best news she's had in ages. Girl, just wait until you find out who the dad is."
@DrSwarla2025 commented: "Sarah knows Bethany pregnant and she is so happy about it, that definitely won't be the case when she finds out who the daddy is.#corrie." @gomezespresso added: "So glad Sarah was found not guilty feel sorry for her cause she loves kit but you can't blame him wait until she founds out he slept with Bethany & got her pregnant #corrie."
