Maya Jama has revealed a major change to her wardrobe for the upcoming series of Love Island, which launches tonight on ITV2. The host, 30, will be wearing vintage-inspired designer looks, including pieces from the Nineties runway, sourced from hidden archives over the past few months.
Speaking to The Sun, Jama explained: "We're doing all archive, vintage, Nineties runway inspired." She added that the outfits are from "hidden archives" and that "the designers have been hunting them down for the last few months for me. Everything should have a runway reference." The presenter noted that her wardrobe will be "very vintage" and that the pieces must be returned after use, so she cannot "rip" or "ruin" them.
Jama showcased one example on a yacht yesterday—a "preloved" Versace one-piece swimsuit and sarong. She shared photos on Instagram with the caption: "Having fun with it .. Love Island starts tomorrow at 9pm. Wearing full archive Versace."
Tonight's launch episode will also feature a new coupling-up process. After the first six boys arrive, Maya will present the girls with dating profiles written on love hearts. The girls will have only seconds to run to a heart and claim their partner, with only one girl allowed per heart.
Love Island airs tonight at 9pm on ITV2, with Maya Jama returning to host the summer series from the villa in Majorca.
