Love Island viewers have turned on contestant Priya after she made what they deemed a 'calculated' remark about reaching the final. The backlash came following a dramatic recoupling ceremony on July 14 that left Priya and Aidan in different partnerships.
Priya's Controversial Comment
After the recoupling, Priya spoke to Aidan and revealed she had hoped to choose him, but Elicia had selected first. She said: 'I feel like I did make a statement and that's hard for me to do because someone has literally come in here they've only had eyes for me.' She then acknowledged she wished she felt the same about Ethan as she does about Aidan, adding: 'I do have a pull towards you and I was gutted when what we had stopped because I felt it was just getting somewhere.'
Aidan responded that circumstances were 'different now' and that he would 'do what feels right and comfortable.' However, Priya then brought up the finals, which are just weeks away, asking Aidan: 'Who do you want to be in the final with baby?' She continued: 'Who do you want to do the rest of this experience with that's what you want to think.'

Viewers were left unimpressed. On X, one person posted: 'Priya is such a game player. All she wants is to get to the final and possibly win. So is Aidan to be honest.
