Love Island viewers have voiced their displeasure after Toni and Shakira won the Best Double Act award at the Grafties ceremony on Wednesday night (July 24). The award show, which has become a fan favourite, saw Islanders dressed in their finest attire as they watched clips of each other from across the series.
However, fans were quick to notice a disparity in the clips shown for Toni and Shakira compared to other nominees. While other couples were shown relatively harmless moments, Toni and Shakira's clips focused heavily on their comments about fellow Islanders Meg and Helena, with no mention of any negative remarks made about them.
Taking to social media, viewers accused producers of setting the pair up. One fan wrote: 'Sharika and Toni will always be the bad people I hate this for them.' Another added: 'The way all of toni and shakira’s clips are about meg and helena but none of the stuff they’ve said about toni and shakira was included, the producers are on one.'
A third commented: 'Are we gonna show meg and helena talking about shakira and toni???? THOSE CLIPS WERE JUST SO BAD i stg why are we painting shakira and toni in such a bad way.' Another viewer said: 'That was a set up if I ever seen one.'
The Grafties ceremony, which airs Islanders' private moments, has become a staple of the show, with the public deciding the winners of each category. This year's categories included 'Eat, Sleep, Crack on, Repeat' and 'Best Double Act,' among others.
