Line of Duty Series 7: Cast and Plot Revealed for 2027

The BBC has confirmed that Jed Mercurio's hit crime thriller Line of Duty will return for a seventh series, with Martin Compston, Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar reprising their roles as Steve Arnott, Kate Fleming and Ted Hastings. The new series is set to air in 2027, with filming beginning in Belfast in spring 2026.

In series seven, AC-12 has been disbanded and rebranded as the Inspectorate of Police Standards. The team faces its most sensitive case yet when Detective Inspector Dominic Gough, a charismatic officer praised for tackling organised crime, is accused of being a sexual predator. The question arises whether his case is a distraction from a larger threat.

Joining the cast as guest lead is Robert Carlyle, who plays Detective Constable Shaun Massie, a Specialist Rifle Officer and veteran marksman. Tom Weston-Jones will portray DI Dominic Gough, while other newcomers include Laura Aikman, Levi Brown and Amy Leigh Hickman as members of Tactical Operations Unit 7.
