Lawrence Robb admits Strictly dance-off fear

Emmerdale star Lawrence Robb has admitted he was mentally preparing for the Strictly Come Dancing dance-off after a difficult weekend on the show. The actor and his professional partner Jowita Przystał scored just 19 points for their jive, performed to a mash-up of Fatboy Slim's The Rockafeller Skank and The Knack's My Sharona.

Judges' feedback was tough

The judges' comments were not positive. Craig Revel Horwood said the performance "wasn't for me" and described it as "flat-footed and out-of-time". Shirley Ballas noted: "You can't be making too many mistakes, but some good things in there, so be proud."

On Friday (October 30), Lawrence appeared on It Takes Two and spoke to host Ellie Taylor about the performance. She said: "Lawrence, it was a tough night for you." He replied: "It was yes."

Reflecting on the performance

When asked how he reflects on the performance, Lawrence said: "Every week is a new week, I think, and, you know, you learn from mistakes, I definitely did make a mistake. At the beginning. But, you know, every dance, I've really enjoyed performing, and I think that that's the main thing of why I'm doing it. I'd like to think that anyway, it's just the love of performing and to have fun doing it and just keep reminding myself of that."

Ellie also asked: "Was it just a bad day at the office?" Lawrence quipped: "Let's hope so!" She then pointed out that Lawrence ended up second-to-last on the judges' leaderboard and asked if he was mentally preparing for the dance-off.

Making a sad admission, Lawrence replied: "Yes. 100%. I think if you're in that position, you can't not. I was mentally, you know, setting up to be, like, right, I'm doing it again."

Fans react to scoring

Fans last weekend shared their frustration over Lawrence's scoring, claiming it was "ridiculously harsh". On X, one person wrote: "Just me that didn't think Lawrence was THAT bad??" A second added: "That was ridiculously harsh on Lawrence." A third chimed in: "I genuinely didn't see that mistake Lawrence did? Am I blind?"

Nonetheless, another Strictly viewer wrote: "100% respect that Lawrence is really trying and giving his all. That jive wasn't great though - it's fitting the clocks are going back tonight because his kicks and flicks were in a different time zone to Jowita's."

Strictly Come Dancing airs every weekend on BBC One and iPlayer.
