Lacey Turner pleads for Strictly votes as competition heats up

Strictly Come Dancing contestant Lacey Turner has said she is not ready to leave the BBC show as the competition reaches its seventh week. The EastEnders actress, 38, and her professional partner Vito Coppola, 34, are set to perform a Rumba to Coldplay's Yellow in Saturday's live show.

Leaderboard toppers face new challenge

The live broadcast marks the halfway point of the series, with the remaining couples competing to impress the judges and viewers. Jamie Winstone will miss this weekend's show due to injury, and she and her partner Carlos Gu have been given a bye through to week eight.

Last week, Turner topped the leaderboard for the first time during the Halloween special. She and Coppola danced a Charleston to Cheryl and Tinie Tempah's Crazy Stupid Love, earning 36 points with straight 9s from judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke.

Close competition behind the leaders

Motsi Mabuse described the routine as the best dance of the night. YouTuber John Nellis, 33, and Katya Jones scored 35 points for their Tango to finish second. Two couples tied for third with 33 points: model Cash Mercer, 25, with Maddie Ingoldsby, 21, who performed an Argentine Tango, and singer Delta Goodrem, 41, with Kai Widdrington, 31, who danced a Viennese Waltz.

With the contest intensifying, Turner took to Instagram Stories on Saturday afternoon to urge supporters to vote. She posted a photo of herself with Coppola from a previous appearance, captioning it: "Ok...the competition is heating up, and nobody is safe. As amazing as we know the green team are we need you to pick up your phone/laptops/tablets and all get voting. We're not ready to go home yet. Still lots more to come."

Week seven dance list

The duo, nicknamed the green team with a four-leaf clover as their emblem, hope to dance into week eight. The full list of week seven couples and dances includes Bethany and Nancy with a Foxtrot to Bleeding Love, Dani and Nikita with an American Smooth to It Had to Be You, Delta and Kai with a Cha Cha to Let's Get Loud, Lacey and Vito with a Rumba to Yellow, Tabby and Mark with a Paso Doble to Supermassive Black Hole, Cach and Maddie with a Waltz to That Ain't You, Graeme and Lauren with a Couple's Choice to The Book of Love, John and Katya with a Salsa to Get Lucky, and Will and Dianne with a Quickstep to This Love.
