Dannii Minogue has spoken out against persistent rumours of a rivalry with her sister Kylie, describing them as baseless and 'really annoying'. The 47-year-old singer and TV presenter made the comments while being painted by artist Anh Do for the ABC series Anh's Brush with Fame.
'It's so annoying. It's really annoying. We're a tight family and we support each other,' she said. Dannii also addressed the constant comparisons between her and Kylie, recalling that 'there was a lot of stuff written about my weight and comparing my size and physique to my sister.' She added that the general narrative was that 'Kylie is this perfect human being and I'm not.'
The star credited her 'feisty character' for preventing the comparisons from negatively affecting her mental health. 'I probably would have had some kind of eating disorder, some really bad mental issues dealing with it,' she admitted. 'I'm just glad that I'm a strong person... you've got to have a thick skin.'
During the interview, Dannii also revealed that she 'never had a burning desire' to be a mother until she welcomed her son Ethan, now eight, with then-boyfriend Kris Smith in 2010. She further recalled a frightening incident where a magazine threatened to publish a false story claiming she was HIV positive unless she agreed to an interview.
