Cher criticised for 'rude' swipe at Dax Shepard during podcast interview

Fans of Dax Shepard have criticised Cher for making 'rude' comments about the actor during an appearance on his podcast, Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard. The 79-year-old singer was a guest on the show, which is co-hosted by Shepard, his wife Kristen Bell, and Monica Padman.

During the episode, which aired on 5 January, Cher made a series of digs at Shepard, leaving listeners feeling 'wildly uncomfortable'. After Shepard expressed gratitude for his life with Bell and their two children, Cher remarked: 'You're lucky, she's definitely the better half.'

When Shepard later acknowledged the comment, Cher added: 'No, but the truth is I trust her [Bell]. So, you must have something that I don't see.' The exchange left Bell visibly shocked, with her hand over her mouth, as the others laughed it off.

Listeners took to social media to defend Shepard, with one commenting: 'I guess by reading his responses, Dax wasn't offended. But when I was listening to this, I was uncomfortable. It's rude and also just way off the mark.' Another wrote: 'As a fan of everyone in this clip, this makes me wildly uncomfortable.'

A third fan said: 'He isn't baiting her. She brought it up. He should've told her to go F herself after how rude she was. Who goes on somebody's podcast and tells his wife that she could do better than him?'

UNILAD has contacted Cher's representatives for comment.
