Kevin Costner's New Spy Drama 'The Gray House' Gets February Release on Prime Video
Kevin Costner's 'The Gray House' Gets Release Date

Hollywood icon and former Yellowstone star Kevin Costner has thrilled fans by releasing the first official trailer for his upcoming television project, the historical spy drama The Gray House.

First Look at the Civil War Spy Thriller

Costner, who left the hit Paramount series Yellowstone midway through its fifth season, shared a minute-long teaser on his Instagram this week. The footage offers a gripping preview of the series, which he produced alongside fellow screen legend Morgan Freeman for Prime Video.

In his post, Costner declared he was "Proud to have helped produce this powerful story," and confirmed the release date. All eight episodes of The Gray House will debut at once on Thursday, 26th February.

The True Story of Courage and Espionage

The series is based on remarkable true events from the American Civil War. It follows a clandestine network of female spies who infiltrated the Confederacy, using an underground railroad as the foundation for a sophisticated intelligence operation.

According to a logline, "They operate deep inside the corridors of Confederate power and transform an underground railroad into an effective underground spy network, risking life and liberty." The ensemble cast is led by Mary-Louise Parker (The West Wing) and includes a diverse group of characters: a Virginia socialite, her mother, a former slave, and a notorious courtesan.

The impressive supporting cast features Amethyst Davis, Daisy Head, Ben Vereen, Paul Anderson, Robert Knepper, Keith David, Marc Jenner, Colin Morgan, Hannah James, and Ben Cura.

Fan Excitement and Costner's Horizon

The new trailer, which showcases a meticulously recreated 19th-century world of conspiracy and conflict, was met with immediate enthusiasm from Costner's 2.6 million followers. Comments praised the project as a "profound thriller" and celebrated Costner's continued production prowess.

This project marks a significant move for Costner, who has recently been focused on his cinematic passion project, Horizon. The release of that film's third and fourth instalments was postponed following a disappointing performance at the box office.

While Costner's time on the Dutton ranch has ended, the Yellowstone universe continues to expand with new series slated for this year. Meanwhile, The Gray House premieres exclusively on Prime Video on 26th February. Fans of historical drama and espionage thrillers now have a major new series to anticipate.
