Kate's Affordable Pearl Necklace Steals the Show on Italy Tour

The Princess of Wales has arrived in Italy this week for her first international royal tour in three years. The royal's visit is set to last two days and will allow Kate to learn more about the country's renowned approach to childhood education as part of her work with the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood.

As ever, Kate kept her look chic, opting for a pastel blue suit from British label Edeline Lee - a brand the Princess has returned to time and time again. However, it was her jewellery that had us all excited.

While her earrings (Annoushka pearl charms worn on Kiki McDonough hoops - and first spotted on Kate as long ago as 2012) are designer, her necklace is a more affordable style from UK based jewellery brand Monica Vinader, which she has updated by adding three delicate charms from Asprey.

The simple necklace features a baroque pearl looped onto an 18k gold vermeil fine chain, making it a timeless piece that can easily be worn everyday. While it's still an investment piece, at under £150, it's certainly one of the more affordable styles we've spotted on a royal in recent years. • Annoushka 18ct gold baroque pearl drops
  • Asprey 18ct gold and diamond mushroom charm

Of course, Kate isn't the only fashion icon we've spotted wearing pearls this season. Google searches for the pearl necklace worn by Anne Hathaway in The Devil Wears Prada 2 have risen by 4,850% since the film's release earlier this month. Demand was so high that Missoma released the 'Andy Set' (inspired by Hathaway's character) which sold out within 48 hours.

With a return to ultra feminine styles on the runways, pearls also made appearances in many of the major SS26 shows. Chanel sent models down the catwalk with maximalist pearl and coloured gem necklaces, while Dior opted for oversized pearl drop earrings. At Valentino they kept things classic, with strings of pearls draped around models' necks.
