Kate Kane, wife of England captain Harry Kane, led the celebrations among the players' partners after the Three Lions secured a dramatic 3-2 victory over Mexico in the World Cup quarter-finals at the Azteca Stadium on Sunday night.
Kane's wife shares joy
Kate posted a selfie on her Instagram story after the match, captioned: "Let's gooooo England!!! WHAT A TEAM," alongside a St George's flag. She also shared a photo of herself sitting in the stands with Harry Kane, who became the fifth highest goal-scorer in World Cup history with his sixth goal of the tournament.
Thrilling match details
Jude Bellingham made history by scoring a brace at the Azteca Stadium, the first player to do so since Diego Maradona's goals against England four decades ago. Both goals came before half-time. Mexico pulled one back before the break, and England's anxiety grew when Jarell Quansah received a red card in the 54th minute.
Harry Kane netted his sixth goal of the tournament on the hour mark after Anthony Gordon was fouled in the penalty area. Nine minutes later, Kane conceded a penalty himself, leading to a tense final half-hour, which England managed to see out despite being down to ten men.
WAGs' reactions
Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford's wife, Megan, had earlier posted a clip from the family section on her Instagram story ahead of kick-off with the caption: "Let's go," along with a love heart. After the match, she reposted her husband's celebratory post with the words: "No words for your magic tonight," and shared a picture of herself kissing Pickford in the stands.
Tolami Benson, fiancée of Bukayo Saka, also celebrated. Saka assisted Bellingham's opener with an exquisite cross before being substituted in the 56th minute following Quansah's dismissal. Benson uploaded footage showing Mexico fans throwing and pouring drinks onto the England section from the upper tiers, but she remained unbothered, also posting a clip of her section singing Robbie Williams' "Angels" in celebration.
Looking ahead
The England WAGs are expected to attend the upcoming quarter-final clash with Norway on Saturday, where they will cheer on the Three Lions as they aim to reach the semi-finals.
