Yellowstone fans were surprised to see Vinessa Shaw, known for her role in the Disney classic Hocus Pocus, appear in the latest episode of the Paramount Western drama. Shaw, now 48, played Dr Everly, the coroner who examines John Dutton's body after his death.
In the episode titled Three Fifty-Three, Kayce Dutton and Beth Dutton investigate their father's murder. They convince Dr Everly to allow them to examine the body further, finding evidence that supports their theory. Dr Everly initially sceptical, is persuaded by Kayce's demonstration of a chokehold that could have knocked John unconscious.
Fans on the show's subreddit quickly recognised Shaw from her role as Allison Watts in the 1993 Halloween film. One user commented, 'Well I'll be dammed I didn't notice,' while another joked, 'Tell me you're a millennial without telling me you're a millennial.' Some viewers suspected Dr Everly might be involved in the murder due to her reluctance, but she later apologises for overlooking details.
Shaw's appearance in Yellowstone is likely a one-off, but she has also appeared in Ray Donovan, CSI: NY and House. Yellowstone season 5, part 2 continues Sundays on Paramount and the following Monday on Paramount+.
