S Club 7's Jon Lee Opens Up About Six-Year Dating Hiatus Ahead of Celebs Go Dating Appearance

S Club 7 star Jon Lee has revealed he hadn't been on a date for six years before joining the cast of Celebs Go Dating this summer. The 43-year-old singer said he was 'hopeless' at dating and needed all the help he could get.

Speaking ahead of the new series, which starts next week, Lee admitted he felt a mix of nerves and excitement about the show. He said the experience was therapeutic, allowing him to open up about things he had never spoken about before. 'I got emotional and it was nice to let that out, it felt like a relief,' he said.

Lee credited the show's experts—Paul C Brunson, Anna Williamson and Dr Tara Suwinyattichaiporn—with helping him understand his past behaviours. 'The experts hold a mirror to you and why you do certain things – you look at your past and things start to click,' he explained.

The former S Club 7 star said his key takeaway from the experience was the importance of being happy with oneself before seeking a relationship. 'If you’re not fully happy with who you are, it’s very difficult to ask someone else to be in love with you,' he said.

Lee also reflected on his public persona, noting that he had always been seen as 'Jon from S Club' and had to present himself in a certain way. He said being able to show his true self on the show was 'refreshing'.
