Joan Cusack made a stunning return to the red carpet at the London premiere of Toy Story 5, marking her first public appearance in 11 years. The 63-year-old actress, last seen at the 2015 Emmy Awards, wore a white button-up shirt tucked into a high-waisted black maxi skirt, accessorising minimally with her brunette bob neatly styled.
She was accompanied by her husband of 30 years, Richard Burke, a lawyer who wore a white shirt, grey trousers and a black blazer. Cusack has largely stayed out of the spotlight since 2011, running a gift shop in Chicago and raising her two sons, Miles and Dylan.
The actress reprises her role as Jessie in the upcoming Pixar film, alongside Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Keanu Reeves and Greta Lee. Director Andrew Stanton revealed that Jessie takes over as the lead character from Woody, saying: 'We had gone to the well of Woody so much... Jessie was just so prime to deal with the stuff that’s gone on with her.'
The film, set for release on June 19, follows the toys as they face challenges from modern electronics. Cusack's last onscreen role was in 2019's Let It Snow, and she won an Emmy in 2017 for her work on Shameless.
