Jessie Buckley Sets Two Conditions for James Bond Role

Oscar and BAFTA nominee Jessie Buckley has revealed she would accept a role in Denis Villeneuve's James Bond film, but only under two specific conditions. Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the 36-year-old Irish actress said she would be keen to join the franchise if the film were shot in Ireland and if Paul Mescal played Bond.

Buckley, who recently won the Golden Globe for Best Actress, expressed her enthusiasm for the project: 'Yes please. As long as I can be the Bond girl and we can set it in Ireland.' The actress shares her Irish heritage with Mescal, who has been tipped as a potential successor to Daniel Craig.

In a separate interview with Deadline, Buckley opened up about her views on love, describing it as 'terrifying' and admitting she has 'been scared of love for a lot of my life.' She added that it took her a 'long while' to understand what love 'even meant for me,' comparing it to cooking a meal that cannot be rushed.

Buckley's comments come amid intense speculation over who will replace Daniel Craig as James Bond. Alongside Paul Mescal, actors Jacob Elordi and Aaron Taylor-Johnson have been linked to the role. British actor Callum Turner is the latest name to surface, with a body language expert noting signs of suppressed excitement during a recent interview.

Buckley, who stars opposite Christian Bale in the upcoming film The Bride, has also been nominated for Best Actress at both the Academy Awards and this year's BAFTA Film Awards.
