BBC audiences are set to be captivated by a new thriller series, Two Weeks In August, which premieres tonight (Saturday, 23 May). Written and developed by Catherine Shepherd, known for Sally4Ever, the show is described as a 'witty and painfully relatable' programme featuring an ensemble cast. It follows a group of friends who reunite for a summer holiday, but their idyllic escape quickly descends into chaos after a forbidden kiss sends shockwaves through the group.

Jessica Raine Leads the Cast

Headlining the series is Jessica Raine, best known for her role as Nurse Jennifer Lee in the beloved BBC medical drama Call the Midwife. In Two Weeks In August, she takes on the character of Zoe. The 43-year-old actress has also appeared in Patrick Melrose and The Devil's Hour. However, Jessica is not the only famous face in her household; her husband joins her in the new BBC programme.

Who Is Jessica Raine's Husband?

Jessica is married to actor Tom Goodman-Hill. The 57-year-old actor is best recognised for his roles as Philip on Spy (2011–2012), Roger Grove on Mr Selfridge (2013–2016), Joe Hawkins on Humans (2015–2018), and Darrien O'Connor in the Netflix sensation Baby Reindeer (2024). The couple tied the knot in 2015, and in 2019, they welcomed their first child together.

Tom Goodman-Hill's Role in Two Weeks In August

Tom Goodman-Hill portrays the mysterious James, who is in a relationship with Flick, played by Dolly Wells. In the series, the wealthy couple own property on the island and attempt to befriend Zoe (Jessica Raine) and her friends, who are vacationing in a nearby villa.

Jessica Raine on Working with Her Husband

Appearing on The One Show ahead of the series debut, Jessica was asked about collaborating with her husband. She revealed: 'Yeah, he [Tom] plays James with the amazing Dolly Wells. They're a couple, they're expats on the island and they're quite questionable characters. They invite the group to this party, and there's a lot of Greek mythology in the show. He's a bit like Dionysus, throwing this bacchanalian party with a lot of incredible scenes. But yeah, he's in it.'

She added: 'It was very, very funny shooting with him because you know when you know someone so well, I couldn't look at him without getting the giggles. I just couldn't do it.'

Two Weeks In August airs Saturday nights at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
