Jesse Metcalfe, who played gardener John Rowland on Desperate Housewives, has said he was unaware of the rumoured feuds among the show's leading actresses. Speaking at the Southfork Experience panel last week, the actor admitted he was too focused on his own career to notice any tension.
During its eight-season run, persistent rumours suggested discord between Teri Hatcher, Eva Longoria, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross and Nicolette Sheridan. However, Metcalfe said he was oblivious to any drama. 'I was just happy to have a job,' he explained, adding that he was 'very grateful' for the role and simply 'riding the wave.'
Hatcher, who played Susan Mayer, previously denied claims of difficult behaviour. In a 2013 interview, she said she would have 'jumped in front of a bus' for the crew. Meanwhile, Sheridan filed a lawsuit against the show's creators after her character was killed off, alleging assault and wrongful termination. The case was eventually dismissed.
A reboot titled Wisteria Lane is in development from Kerry Washington's production company. Metcalfe said he is unsure if any original cast members will appear, as the project is still in early stages.
