Netflix has confirmed that production on the second season of Wednesday has wrapped, sharing a new image of star Jenna Ortega in character. The announcement was made via the streaming platform's X account on December 4, with a post captioned: 'Jenna Ortega closes the coffin on Wednesday season 2. Coming 2025.'
Showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar have teased that the upcoming season will delve deeper into Addams Family lore, introducing 'an eclectic lineup of incredible new characters'. A behind-the-scenes clip released in September featured co-star Catherine Zeta-Jones, who plays Morticia Addams, promising that the season will be 'bigger and more twisted than you can ever imagine'.
New cast members for season two include Billie Piper as Capri, Joanna Lumley as Grandmama, Steve Buscemi as Barry Dort, and Thandiwe Newton as Dr Fairburn. Further additions are Frances O'Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, and Joonas Suotamo. Lady Gaga has also joined the cast, though details of her role remain under wraps.
Ortega has hinted at a darker tone for the second season, describing it as 'a little bit more horror-inspired' while remaining suitable for all ages. 'Not to say that suddenly we're the goriest show of all time,' she added. Season one of Wednesday is currently streaming on Netflix, with season two expected to premiere in 2025.
