Actors Will Mellor and Ralf Little have shared their behind-the-scenes experience on James Martin's Saturday Morning programme, revealing a side of the celebrity chef that surprised them. The duo appeared on the ITV show last year, where they sampled the 53-year-old's culinary creations and later discussed their visit on their podcast, The Two Pints.
Describing the chef's residence, where the show is filmed, Will Mellor called it 'a lovely place'. The green room, they said, was far from typical, featuring a pool table, arcade machine, guitars, memorabilia, and several luxury cars, including two or three Ferraris and an old Bentley. Mellor disclosed that Martin had bought a Ferrari for £500,000, which is now worth £16-17 million.
The actors praised Martin's character, with Ralf Little calling him 'a great man' and Mellor adding, 'He's a great guy, a really top guy.' Little noted that Martin showed off his collection without being boastful, simply offering to show them if they were interested. Mellor said they 'had a good laugh' and that Martin generously gave them some wine.
Little also revealed that Martin shared his journey to success, saying he arrived in London in the early 2000s with just £20 and built his career through hard work and smart investments. The actors were impressed by his business acumen, with Little describing him as 'a smart businessman'.
The revelations follow praise from chef Tom Kerridge, who recently said on a podcast that Martin is 'so good live' and 'a really good cook'. James Martin's Saturday Morning airs weekly from 9.30am on ITV and ITVX.
