ITVX documentary shocks viewers over alleged serial killer claims

An ITVX true crime documentary has left viewers deeply unsettled, with many saying the series "shocked them to their core." The three-part programme, My Killer Father: The Green Hollow Murders, follows the investigation into Donald Studey from Iowa, US, known as the Monster of Green Hollow, after his daughter claimed she knew where dozens of bodies were buried following decades of alleged murders.

The documentary, available on ITVX and Paramount+, carries warnings for "strong language, distressing scenes, real crime and suicide." It centres on a small, quiet town where residents had long spoken of an alleged serial killer called the Green Hollow Monster.

Daughter's Claims and Viewer Reactions

According to social media reviewer EccyReviews, who recommends the show, a woman comes forward in the documentary saying her father is the alleged serial killer and that he "didn't just kill three of his wives, but that he killed nearly 100 people." She also claims her father made her and her sister dispose of some of the bodies.

EccyReviews said: "You're going to be running to your screen tonight to go and watch this documentary. You will not be able to take your eyes off the screen watching. But the craziest thing is about it is that people don't believe her."

Mixed Opinions on Evidence and AI Imagery

Viewers have been divided over the claims and the evidence presented. One user said: "Just watched it and it was frustrating. I believe her father did terrible things but there should've been some evidence." Another added: "I feel for this woman I hope she finally gets the answers and finds where they were all buried." A third commented: "I watched it already and I'd be digging up the entire mountain."

On IMDb, one viewer wrote: "I had trouble turning it off, watched it all in 2 nights, would have watched it in 1 sitting if I had the time. Kept me interested from start to finish - just wish the ending was better, but it's a documentary so they can only present what happened. I found it very disturbing and sad at times as well."

However, some viewers found the use of AI-generated imagery off-putting. One said: "I really couldn't even get through this successfully because I couldn't get past the AI videos they used in this documentary. Really unfortunate. Not pleasant to watch. It seems like it had promise and isn't interesting story to tell." Another questioned: "I'm not sure why the producers felt like they needed to use AI generated imagery instead of regular film and actor cut scenes."

My Killer Father: The Green Hollow Murders is available to watch on ITVX now.
