ITV is set to air a new four-part drama, 'The Lady', which delves into the true story of Jane Andrews, the former dresser to Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York. The series, premiering on Sunday, February 22 at 9pm on ITV and ITVX, follows Andrews' journey from a working-class background in Lincolnshire to her role within the royal household, and ultimately to her conviction for the murder of her boyfriend, Thomas Cressman.
Starring Mia McKenna-Bruce as Jane Andrews and Natalie Dormer as Sarah Ferguson, the drama explores the 'deeply disturbing' underbelly of a fairytale life. Writer Debbie O'Malley described the story as having a 'dark and deeply disturbing underbelly', highlighting the precariousness of Andrews' position in a 'toxic, class-obsessed world'.
The series also features Ed Speleers as Thomas Cressman, described as a 'Prince Charming' figure. Speleers is known for roles in 'You', 'Outlander', and 'Downton Abbey'. The complete four-episode boxset is available to stream on ITVX from the premiere date.
