Deal or No Deal Returns to ITV Without Noel Edmonds, Stephen Mulhern Named New Host

ITV has confirmed the revival of the iconic gameshow Deal or No Deal, which originally aired on Channel 4 from 2005 to 2016. The new series will feature a brand-new setting, prize boxes, and contestants, but notably without its original host Noel Edmonds.

Stephen Mulhern, known for hosting Catchphrase and In For a Penny, will take over presenting duties. Mulhern expressed his excitement, stating he has been practising at home with cereal boxes and considers the show one of the greatest of all time.

The format remains unchanged: contestants face 22 sealed boxes containing cash amounts from 1p to £250,000. They eliminate boxes one by one while the mysterious Banker makes offers to buy their box. The Banker's identity will be new, described as 'even more awful' than the previous one.

During its original run, only nine contestants won the top prize. Notably, singer Olly Murs famously won just 10p before finding fame on The X Factor. Casting for the new series is now open via the show's website.

ITV's head of entertainment commissioning Katie Rawcliffe praised the format and Mulhern's suitability, while Remarkable Entertainment's Tamara Gilder expressed delight at bringing the show to a new channel with a new host. The revival follows ITV's recent resurrection of Big Brother.
