The cast of The Inbetweeners is reuniting for a two-hour special to mark the 10th anniversary of the hit E4 sitcom. Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison, and Joe Thomas will appear in the programme, which features classic clips, behind-the-scenes footage, and contributions from famous fans.
The show, which ran for three series and spawned two films, followed four sixth-form students at Rudge Park Comprehensive. Bird played Will McKenzie, who befriended shy Simon (Thomas), fantasist Jay (Buckley), and dim Neil (Harrison). The series won a Bafta TV award and a British Comedy Award.
The anniversary special will include tributes to memorable moments and catchphrases, as well as an awards segment ranking the funniest scenes across the series and films, with categories such as best sex scene and 'best ever moment'.
Despite the reunion, a fourth series is not planned. Harrison previously said the actors are now too old for the roles, as the humour relied on the characters' youthful ignorance. Channel 4's Tom Beck said he was pleased to host a party the characters would finally be invited to, while co-executive producer Will Macdonald noted the show's enduring popularity.
