Gen V Season 2 Premiere Pays Tribute to Chance Perdomo as Andre's Death Is Revealed

The second season of Prime Video's Gen V has arrived, opening with a poignant tribute to the late Chance Perdomo. The actor died in March 2024 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. In the Season 2 premiere, viewers learn that his character, Andre, has also died.

Showrunner Michele Fazekas explained the approach to honouring Perdomo: 'We wanted to honour him, and in order to honour the person that Chance was, we have to treat this like what it is, which is grieving someone who is gone.' The episode balances the real grief with the show's superhero college setting, allowing characters to react with a mix of anger, inappropriate jokes, and sadness.

Andre's death is revealed through a flashback. Jordan tells Marie that Andre found a narrow maintenance pipe during an escape attempt but refused to leave until everyone else had a chance. When the pipe was bricked up, he tried to rip open a steel door. 'It wouldn't move. His powers weren't strong enough, and I begged him to stop... He kept trying, and he struck the f–k out and he dropped and he died,' Jordan recounts.

The emotional weight of the scene is heightened by the real-life loss. Fazekas noted that the actors, including Jaz Sinclair and Lizze Broadway, brought a piece of themselves to the performance. The tribute to Perdomo is simple but effective: a title card reading 'For Chance.'
