The first season consists of ten episodes, beginning with a Great Council that chooses Viserys Targaryen as heir over Princess Rhaenys, setting the stage for conflict. Key characters include King Viserys, his daughter Rhaenyra, his brother Daemon, and Alicent Hightower, whose friendship with Rhaenyra deteriorates after Alicent marries Viserys.
