House of the Dragon Season 3 Episode 1 Release Date and Time Revealed
House of the Dragon S3 Premiere: Release Date and Time

Everything you need to know about when House of the Dragon season 3 will be released. House of the Dragon season three is almost here, and fans can hardly wait. Reviews have already landed for the forthcoming outing of the HBO fantasy drama, which serves as a prequel to Game of Thrones. The vast majority have praised the show after a somewhat lacklustre second outing. The new series picks up straight off the back of last season, as war has finally come to Westeros and the fight between the Blacks and the Greens begins in earnest.

Release Schedule

Just like Game of Thrones, season three of House of the Dragon is being simulcast on both sides of the Atlantic. So, it will be airing at 9pm Eastern Standard Time on HBO in America on Sunday, June 21. This means the show will premiere in the UK on Sky Atlantic, HBO UK & Ireland and NOW on Monday, June 22 at 2am British Summer Time. The simulcast means that British fans don't face a delay and can watch at exactly the same time as their US counterparts.

There will be a total of eight episodes in the new series, the same as the previous outing but shorter than the first season. Episodes will be dropping on a weekly basis, and fans will have to be patient as the show slowly unfolds over two months.

Cast and New Additions

The main cast will be returning to the show, including Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen, Emma D'Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, Steve Toussaint as Corlys Velaryon, Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole, Ewan Mitchell as Aemond Targaryen, and Tom Glynn-Carney as Aegon II Targaryen. There will also be some new cast members joining season three, such as Grantchester's James Norton as Ser Ormund Hightower, Downton Abbey's Tom Cullen as Luthor Largent, and Sons of Anarchy actor Tommy Flanagan as Roderick Dustin.

Source Material and Epic Battles

Once again, House of the Dragon will be drawing on material from Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin's Targaryen history book Fire & Blood. Season three is expected to be the biggest in the show's history to date and features the epic Battle of the Gullet, which is already being hailed as a television first by House of the Dragon's showrunner Ryan Condal due to the scale and scope of the sequence. Along with the Battle of the Gullet, fans can expect their usual dose of political machinations as various factions vie for power and the Iron Throne.
