The series finale of 'The Boys', titled 'Blood and Bone', sees Billy Butcher finally kill Homelander in a gruesome scene. Butcher uses a crowbar to pry open Homelander's skull and spill his brains on the Oval Office floor. Despite Homelander's long list of atrocities, the moment lacks triumphant fanfare, leaving a sense of dissatisfaction.
The death occurs after Kimiko successfully de-powers Homelander, using her abilities to render him vulnerable. This mirrors a failed attempt in season three's 'Herogasm' episode, but this time succeeds thanks to Kimiko's emotional connection to Frenchie. Homelander begs for his life before Butcher delivers the fatal blow.
Other villains meet their ends as well: The Deep is killed by marine animals after being banished from the ocean by Xander (voiced by Samuel L. Jackson). The episode highlights the parallels between Butcher and Homelander, suggesting that Butcher's victory comes at a moral cost, leaving him as the remaining monster.
