Hollyoaks star Alex Fletcher has confirmed a major stunt set to air in January, promising dramatic twists for several characters. The actress, who has played Diane Hutchinson since 2010, spoke exclusively to Digital Spy about the upcoming developments.
Fletcher revealed that the soap's traditional hour-long January episode will feature a large stunt involving multiple characters. 'For the people involved in that stunt, it's going to go in different directions,' she said. 'What is amazing is that it links everybody in, it'll be different stories and it opens up different cans of worms all over the shop.'
The actress also discussed the recent recasting of her on-screen children, Rose and Ant, who will take centre stage next week as Rose goes missing. Fletcher teased heartbreaking drama ahead: 'This is the start of more heartbreaking things to come. We've got a massive story that we're going to be telling and I genuinely can't wait.'
Fletcher described the upcoming storyline as a 'slow burn' that will challenge the cast. 'We've never done anything like this before,' she added. 'I think people are going to invest in Rose's character. She's just gorgeous and I think when the audience see what she's going to go through, they're going to really feel it with her.'
