Hollyoaks airs a terrifying Halloween twist as Dee-Dee Hutchinson (Chloe Atkinson) accidentally sets her ex-boyfriend Maddox Keane (Sam Meyer) on fire. The shocking incident occurs during a fancy dress party at The Dog, after Dee-Dee discovers Maddox kissing Trina.
Dee-Dee has been targeted by teacher Abigail Matthews (Brooke Vincent), who has been grooming her. One of Abigail's first moves was to drive a wedge between Dee-Dee and Maddox, who was struggling to accept that Cindy Cunningham (Stephanie Waring) is his biological mother. The former couple have been at odds since, with Dee-Dee now under Abigail's influence.
Birthday Party Ban and a Heartfelt Gift
Next week, Dee-Dee spends time with Abigail but is caught sneaking back to the flat, leading her loved ones to discover she has been drinking. As punishment, Tony (Nick Pickard) bans her from her own 16th birthday party. However, on the day of the party, he reconsiders after playing a message recorded by their late mum Diane (Alex Fletcher) for Dee-Dee, Ant (Brook Debio) and Ro (Leo Cole).
Maddox, meanwhile, gets Tony's approval to use The Dog for his Halloween party. At the party, Dee-Dee is touched when she receives a heartfelt gift from Maddox. Confused by Abigail, she wonders if she should pursue a future with her ex instead.
Confrontation Leads to Disaster
Trina, also at the party, sets her sights on Maddox. Later, Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) tells Leela Dexter (Kirsty-Leigh Porter) that she wonders if Dee-Dee might fancy Kathleen-Angel, unaware that Trina is nearby in a cubicle and has heard everything. Kathleen-Angel then gets up and sings, but Dee-Dee is hurt when she finds Maddox kissing Trina.
Determined to get answers, Dee-Dee confronts the pair, but Trina retaliates by suggesting that Dee-Dee fancies Kathleen-Angel. Defending herself, Dee-Dee pushes over some candles, which accidentally sets Maddox on fire.
