Production is underway on Season 2 of ABC's crime drama High Potential, with a trailer now released showing Morgan Gillory (Kaitlin Olson) confronting her new boss, tracking her estranged ex Roman, and clashing with the mysterious 'game maker' introduced in the Season 1 finale. The new season will premiere on Tuesday, September 16 at 10/9c, following the two-hour debut of Dancing With the Stars.
Season 2 will consist of 18 episodes, up from 13 in the first season. New cast members include Steve Howey as precinct captain Jesse Wagner, described as a 'savvy political animal' with a disruptor mindset similar to Morgan's. Mekhi Phifer will recur as a character 'who becomes involved in major crimes,' though further details remain under wraps.
David Giuntoli returns as the unnamed game master who targeted Morgan in the finale. Showrunner Todd Harthan hinted that the character 'definitely has the potential' to become a recurring villain, popping in and out of Morgan's life. The season will also explore Roman's fate, with Karadec (Daniel Sunjata) knowing his whereabouts.
Cast members have expressed hopes for Season 2 storylines. Deniz Akdeniz, who plays Oz, wants to 'get the person who put me in the pool.' Judy Reyes, who plays Lieutenant Selena Soto, hopes to explore her character's personal life and emotional history. The season promises to answer lingering questions from the first season while introducing new mysteries.
