Handmaid's Tale Sequel The Testaments Gets April 2026 Release

Hulu has announced that 'The Testaments', the sequel to its hit series 'The Handmaid's Tale', will premiere on April 8, 2026. The first three episodes will be released on that date, with subsequent episodes dropping weekly.

Based on Margaret Atwood's novel of the same name, the series is described as 'a dramatic coming of age story set in Gilead'. It follows young teens Agnes (Chase Infiniti) and Daisy (Lucy Halliday), who navigate Aunt Lydia's (Ann Dowd) elite preparatory school for future wives, where obedience is brutally instilled. Their bond becomes a catalyst for change.

The cast also includes Mabel Li, Amy Seimetz, Brad Alexander, Rowan Blanchard, Mattea Conforti, Zarrin Darnell-Martin, Eva Foote, Isolde Ardies, Shechinah Mpumlwana, Birva Pandya, and Kira Guloien.

Bruce Miller, who adapted 'The Handmaid's Tale' for television, serves as creator, executive producer, and showrunner. Executive producers include Warren Littlefield, Elisabeth Moss, Steve Stark, Shana Stein, Maya Goldsmith, John Weber, Sheila Hockin, Daniel Wilson, Fran Sears, and Mike Barker, who also directed the first three episodes. MGM Television is the studio.

Infiniti, announced as the series lead in February 2025, has since earned praise and award nominations for her role in the Oscar-nominated film 'One Battle After Another'.
