The hit Liverpool-set comedy G'wed is returning to ITV2 for a third series, promising more laughs, drama, and deeper storylines. The show first aired two years ago and quickly became a fan favourite, earning praise from Doctor Who showrunner Russell T. Davies, who called it a "classic in the making."
Record-Breaking Success
The first series was not only a critical triumph but also a streaming sensation. It broke records as the most-streamed comedy on ITVX, with over 7.2 million views. The show's popularity has only grown, leading to a BAFTA nomination for lead actor Dylan Thomas-Smith in 2025 for best male performance in a comedy.
Cast and Characters
Dylan Thomas-Smith, who hails from Prenton, stars as Reece. The ensemble cast includes Gemma Barraclough as Mia-Louise, Amber Harrison as Aimee Morris, Max Ainsworth as Connor, and Jake Kenny-Byrne as Christopher. Joining the cast for series three is Jennifer Ellison, best known for her role in Brookside, who plays Aimee's estranged mother, Anna. Ellison also runs her own performing arts school, Jelli Studios.
Plot and Themes
Series three is described as "bigger and bolder" than ever, tackling powerful themes such as the refugee crisis, women in sport, and OCD. The official trailer teases a season that is "raw, relevant, and a comedy that refuses to look away." The first episode synopsis reveals: "Reece's life spirals as Disneyland Darren resurfaces, his mum dates Mr Dunn, and being forced to help The Brimble sparks constant clashes."
