John Simm is set to return as Detective Superintendent Roy Grace in the sixth series of the ITV drama, which premieres on Sunday, March 29 at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX. The opening episode runs for two hours, concluding at 10pm, replacing ITV's Gone in the primetime slot.
The series features Simm alongside Richie Campbell as DI Glenn Branson and Zoë Tapper as Cleo Morey. Other returning cast members include Laura Elphinstone as DS Bella Moy, Brad Morrison as DC Nick Nicholl, and Juliette Motamed as DC Vee Wilde. Guest stars include Rishi Nair, Ali Khan, Sara Powell, Chizzy Akudolu, Dylan Corbett-Bader, Peter De Jersey, and Amir Wilson.
The synopsis reveals that tensions are high in East Sussex CID following the arrest of ACC Cassian Pewe, with Grace's team amid an anti-corruption inquiry. Grace struggles to trust Cassian's intel about his wife Sandy's murder and the threat to his son Bruno's life, keeping secrets from Cleo as they plan their wedding. The team tackles four investigations: a missing persons case, a university stalker, a tragic death on a council estate, and a fatal car crash.
Filmed and set in Brighton, the location is integral to the series. Simm, who lives in Brighton, said: 'Filming Grace has been a great way for me to discover my hometown. It's a fantastic place to live and film. It's a character in its own right.'
The sixth season consists of four feature-length episodes, each two hours long, inspired by Peter James's novels. The episode titles are Left You Dead, Capture You Dead, Dead Man's Game, and One Of Us Is Dead.
