Tom Malone Jr., formerly of Channel 4's Gogglebox, has taken on a new role as a chair-tester for office supplies company BiGDUG, just weeks after leaving the show. The 26-year-old dancer announced his departure from the programme in February after six and a half years, citing a desire for change.
Malone revealed his new job in a social media post, joking about the irony of moving from being paid to sit on a sofa to testing office chairs. 'As you know I've just quit my job at Gogglebox because I was sick of getting paid to sit on my a***. Now for my first real brand job I’m going to be sitting on my a*** – you can’t really make it up,' he said.
He explained that his experience of sitting around made him a natural fit for the role. 'As I've had so much experience sitting around they've asked me to test out some of their new chairs,' Malone added.
Malone had previously spoken about the perks of being on Gogglebox, including weekly takeaways provided by the crew during filming. He also noted that cast members from different families never met in person, only occasionally interacting on Twitter.
His family, The Malones, will continue to appear on the show alongside his brother Shaun. Malone expressed excitement about future opportunities, stating, 'New opportunities are knocking on the door and it's time to explore them.'
