Gogglebox returned to screens on Friday night with a major line-up shake-up, introducing five new families while axing fan-favourite duo Roisin and Joe. Viewers were quick to express their disappointment, with many demanding the Scottish pair be brought back.
The new additions include Scottish friends Jake, 27, and Calum, 31, from Glasgow; sisters Rosie, 68, and Susie, 70, from Edinburgh; the show's oldest-ever contributor, 87-year-old Sara from Yorkshire, with her daughter-in-law Lara, 58; the Gordons from Surrey; and married couple Andrew, 62, and Alfie, 32, from the Cotswolds.
Roisin and Joe, who joined Gogglebox in 2022, confirmed their departure earlier this week, stating that Channel 4 had not renewed their contract for season 26. They said: 'After three and a half years of sitting on the sofa Channel 4 have decided it's time for Joe and I to stretch our legs and have not asked us back.'
Fans took to social media to voice their dismay, with one writing: 'where are the people's princesses????' and another adding: 'Bring them back.' A third commented: 'Contract wasn’t renewed despite them being bright, articulate, and funny.'
Channel 4 said in a statement: 'We thank Joe and Roisin for their contributions to Gogglebox over the years, and wish them all the best for the future.'
