Gogglebox fans have expressed outrage after Mary Killen described a Strictly Come Dancing routine as resembling pornography. The long-standing Channel 4 star made the comment while watching Towie's Pete Wicks perform a Tarzan-themed dance to George of the Jungle.
During the episode, Mary said: 'He's got the wrong end of the stick, the show is about dancing. It looks like pornography.' She added that no one wanted to see Wicks 'thrusting and gyrating'. The remark sparked backlash from viewers, with some calling for the couple to be removed from the show.
One fan wrote: 'Clearly Mary's never actually seen pornography if she thinks Pete Wicks grinding his hips is pornography.' Another said: 'PLEASE get rid of Gyles and Mary! Such sticks in the mud!' A third added: 'I don't normally mind Giles and Mary, but constantly equating things (like dancing) to porn and sex is really annoying.'
This is not the first time Mary has faced scrutiny. In a recent episode, her husband Giles Wood questioned her about her vanishing Irish accent, prompting Mary to recall being teased when she first moved to London. Giles joked about whether such teasing would now be considered a hate crime, to which Mary agreed.
